My Mental Training Secrets

Published on • By Frédéric Damato

Why do you like my sessions?

You tell me this often: “I feel understood,” “I improved faster than I expected,” or “I make better decisions, even under pressure.”

It's no coincidence!

My mental training sessions are built on solid foundations — grounded in science, of course, informed by field experience… and by genuine listening. Each session is designed to create a space of trust, alignment and effectiveness. You feel something shift — sometimes deeply — because I use powerful tools like Ericksonian hypnosis, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), transactional analysis and the explicitation interview.

These approaches open unconscious doors, help you better understand your internal patterns, dissolve certain blocks… and above all reactivate your resources. That's where transformation begins.

Why do you find my sessions so effective?

Because they address your brain… but not only its logical part. The key to lasting performance isn't just thinking. It's the subtle alliance of intuition, confidence and clarity.

Take Libet's half-second — that brief delay between the unconscious activation of an action and its conscious execution. This means many of our decisions are made… before we're even aware of them. That's why we also work on the adaptive unconscious: the ability to build positive automatic responses, to react better in the moment, to anticipate without freezing.

When I talk to you about decision-making, I help you recognize the cognitive biases that trap you — in sport as in life. Because making better decisions often comes from sensing things more accurately. And learning to listen to that inner voice (sometimes called intuition) without being swept away by it.

I rely on powerful tools such as Ericksonian hypnosis, NLP, transactional analysis and the explicitation interview to reach those subtle zones between conscious and unconscious, thought and feeling. And through precise work on listening, mental posture and emotional regulation, you progress faster, with greater accuracy and fluidity.

But what truly makes my sessions effective is their ability to connect all these levels: body, language, brain, emotion, intention. For example, mirror neurons show that observation, interaction and visualization activate the same brain areas as action itself. By working on your mental imagery, self-talk and deep feelings, we activate powerful levers for your self-confidence, emotional management, and achieving your goals.

And then there's the human element (but that's everything, thankfully). My listening, and my determination to try to ask the right questions at the right moment. That's what activates a dynamic of progress and goal attainment—whether sporting, professional or personal.

And what about cohesion in all of this?

When we talk about collective performance, we're talking about synchronization. Team cohesion isn't imposed; it's built. Transactional analysis is a fundamental tool here, because it helps understand relational dynamics, implicit roles and unspoken needs. By working on listening, emotional attunement and mutual recognition, teams gain confidence… and effectiveness. In sport as in business.
