Focused... ? Frustrated... ? Determined... ?
If you think you already know how to read and precisely understand your young athlete's emotions, there's no need to read this article.
Since 2011 I've been working in Performance with elite athletes as well as young athletes, regardless of their age or sport.
The challenge for parents of young athletes
If there's one thing that's especially difficult for parents of athletes, it's accurately interpreting the emotions of the young athletes they support.
You, who are often the first coach, the first "staff"—the one who accompanies, guides, supports, advises and encourages them (...) all year long in their sport, in their dream of success, through progress, victories and setbacks—you know how uncertain and difficult it is to find the right words.
For your daughter or son who is passionate, determined and regularly competing:
Give them the chance to learn more about themselves, better understand and manage their emotions so they can become better athletes and keep improving. Through mental preparation!
Why work on mental training?
- Learn to become an even better athlete
- Mature in their sport, mentally and emotionally so they can perform at their best
- Allow them to reveal the potential within them
- Enjoy their sport, enjoy their mental game — and have the MINDSET to ENJOY it
And what if you too, PARENTS, worked on your own mental preparation?
I regularly work with parents too, to help them:
This is how my mental preparation sessions can help you, PARENTS.
How many sessions for your children?
3-5 sessions (spread over several weeks)
- To help them prepare mentally for a specific competition
- To readjust their confidence
- To help them learn to know themselves better
- To improve how they manage stress and emotions
10-12 sessions (spread over 3 to 4 months)
- To prepare for competitions
- To help them develop their potential
- For balanced, lasting confidence
- To learn mental preparation
- To help them navigate the stages of an athlete's life and progress through levels
- To prepare for the elite level
- To improve their mental skills (stress, emotions, motivation, pressure, relaxation, concentration ...)
